Where have I been? Right here all along, just have had nothing much to report. Ok, actually we’ve been busy sorting out flights and where to go. We are finally booked and in about 2 days will be flying to New Zealand’s south island to a little place call Christchurch. Dead of winter no less so we’ll be going from 70 degree temps to about 40 degrees. DAMN!
I’ve been a bit apprehensive over the past few weeks about the upcoming flights but since Lyn and I started packing for our mini-holiday I’ve gotten a little more excited about it. Time for “us”. Christchurch isn’t exactly where we wanted to go but it’s the cheapest we could find on our very slim-to-none budget. Next mini-holiday will be to the North Island/Auckland. At least we’ll be better prepared budget-wise.
My birthday was on the 7th of July. I guess you could say I had two days of it. Since I’m in Australia, my actual birthday in the States was Monday the 7th, but actually Tuesday the 8th here. I know, I’m confused too but I celebrated on Monday. Lyn took me to the Rainforest Dome in Cairns. I got my picture taken with a Koala Bear. OMG it was the cutest little thing! Next? A CROC!

Well I’m still adjusting to living in Australia. At times I have to laugh. Just at things said or the different types of foods. I’ll say “huh” or “what”? a lot or just do a double-take.
Just the other day I was reading the paper and came across an advertisement for ink at some office store. The main headline read something like “Heaps of Ink, Tonnes of Cartridges”….. Tonnes? Ok. What’s a tonnes? So not like how we spell TONS but that’s how it was spelt. How was I to know? I thought it was a typo. I pronounced it Toe-nes ROFL! Well, come to find out, “tonnes” is their “ton” in liters. Our “ton” is American lbs. So I accepted that answer. Fair enough.
I can’t seem to order food or ask questions to people at shops. They look at me funny or have to ask me what I said. Is it my accent? I don’t have an accent! What are they talking about? LOL! Lyn has to resort to asking for me.
Driving is getting a bit easier, although I think I’ve mentioned that already. Still struggle with the turn signal and wipers. Lyn busts a gut when I do it to! Grrrr! Ok ok, I have a chuckle myself.
The wildlife, I haven’t seen much of yet. Although I did see a peacock walk across the road. A gosh dang peacock! I’ve only seen those in zoo’s! OH, and a huge flock of cockatoo’s. I’ve only seen those as pets! It just amazes me! Anxious to see more!
Last night I thought about my next flight. Which will be in July sometimes, mid July I’m guessing, but I layed in bed and thought about it and strangely enough, I got anxious to fly again. I couldn’t wait to get up there in the vast blue, puffy whites (or stormy grays) below me. How do I feel now? I lost that intense feeling but I think I should have no problems with flying now. Still won’t like the decent feeling, the pain in my ears and the turb but I still like being up there. It’s worth it really.
Ty’s adjusting quite nicely. The kids love him, play with him a lot so that’s a good thing. He still sleeps with me and still follows me. I guess he’ll always do that no matter how many others are in the house. He’s my boy.
So besides some little quirks about Australia, they are quirks that I can adjust to and most certainly live with! I absolutely LOVE living here! The scenery is gorgeous, the weather is perfect (right now). What more can I say? Love experiencing something new everyday. I’m so looking forward to building my new life here with Lyn and her family.

Ok… here I am safe and sound in Australia. I took 3 plane rides to get here. Each plane varied in size and length of trip.
Flight #1: Vegas to L.A. Embrae rj140 Sat in 5C near window on the right side of the plane. Flight Time – 2:50 pm – 4:00 pm
I showed the FoF letter to the boarding lady and she said “oh aren’t you so cute! Sure you can meet the pilot and see the cockpit”. So now it’s time to board and I’m walking through the tunnel. My nerves were rattling inside and I could feel tears starting to well up. The flight attendant pointed me left to the pilots cockpit area and both pilots started talking to me. (more…)

Since we got Ty settled and off to Australia we’ve been sorting out my things. We’re nearly finished. Have a few small boxes that can be mailed off but I’ll have my mum do that at a later date – funds permitting too. I have 3 suitcases and 2 of them are full of my “things”. Glad I don’t have much of a wardrobe because all my clothes fit in one bag. That’s sad! LOL!!
Mum is coming over at some point today. Just gonna make dinner and chat I suppose. Can’t tell if this will be my last visit with her or not. She’s not seeing me off at the airport because we’ll be staying the night in Vegas on the 22nd. Another reason I don’t want her to see me off is because I need to be in a good frame of mind when I board the plane. Being upset, distraught and bawling my eyes out with my mum will not leave me feeling to good. Don’t think that would mix well with my first plane ride.
Been thinking a lot about flying the past couple nights. I say nights cuz I lay in bed and just think about being on a plane. I get a bit scared and frightened and I quickly have to divert my mind to something else. Mostly at night. During the day I’m fine.
10 more days …

Ok.. I have to admit, I’m having a tough time without Ty. Every time I leave the house and come back, I’m expecting him to be at the door. Waiting and wagging his little curly tail. But… nuthin. At 9:30 pm this evening Ty hit the big sky above. He’s now 3 hours into his flight and will be landing in Auckland in about 10 hours. Then another 4 hour flight to Sydney. I can’t wait till he gets there. I need to call and make sure he’s ok. I keep wondering what he must be thinking and if he’s stressing out. Hurts!
As for me, 2 more weeks. I downloaded this e-book type thing that’s some guy who’s suppose to hypnotise you into flying or something like that. It’s not a bad thing really. But he says to listen to him every night atleast 2 to 3 weeks before you fly. Does it help? Hmmmm well… all I can really say is that I haven’t had any bad butterflies… just a few giddy and excited butterflies. Anyway, the name of the guy and the title of the e-book mp3 voice thingie (whatever the frack it’s called!) is: “Overcome the Fear of Flying” by Glenn Harrold. It’s an Audio Book (DOH!!) I got mine off iTunes for $10 I think. Listen to it at night while you’re laying in bed and use headphones. Don’t get interrupted for an hour. It’s 2 parts… each part is 30 mins.
Ok.. nearly 1 am for me. Time to knock off another day and bring myself closer to my own flight! Toodles!
